A next-gen sequel to the successful reboot of Tomb Raider is in full production says publisher Square Enix.

Square Enix Europe and North America CEO Phil Rogers made the rumoured sequel official in an open letter regarding the publisher’s recommitment to AAA development.

“I am also excited to reveal that we are well into development on a next-generation Tomb Raider sequel,” said Rogers. “In the future, we’ll offer gamers more choice, support more platforms and try new things – but we will make sure that whatever the platform, we’ll always keep our focus on raising the quality bar. We feel that is what gamers should expect from a Square Enix game.”

Rogers finished by adding that the publisher will unveil its “fuller release plan” on games ranging from next-gen “blockbusters” to “cutting-edge” tablet and mobile titles, to live and PC games soon.
