Most of the creative team behind The Neverhood is asking for cash on Kickstarter to fund a spiritual successor.

Earthworm Jim and Neverhood creator Doug TenNapel is on board, as is animation specialist Pencil Test Studios.

The game, Armikrog, will be a point and click adventure title that features clay and puppet animation.

Pencil Test said it will blur the lines between art and technology and use stop-motion animation and sculpture to bring the project to life.

According to the studio, “Armikrog follows the adventures of a space explorer named Tommynaut and his blind alien, talking dog named Beak-Beak. They crash land on a weird planet and end up locked in a mysterious fortress called Armikrog. Then...the adventure begins!”

The game’s Kickstarter states that it will feature all of the elements of TenNapel's unmistakable style: quirky and lovable characters, unique worlds, a compelling story, mind-bending puzzles, and great animation.

The Neverhood composer Terry S. Taylor is on board, and the voice cast includes Napolean Dynamite’s Jon Heder and Pinky and the Brain’s Rob Paulsen.

The project is seeking US$900,000, and has already amassed US$216,866 at the time of writing, with 28 days to go.
