A platform game creation tool by the designer of titles such as Commander Keen, Wolfenstein 3D, and Doom has hit Kickstarter.

Tom Hall is seeking US$400,000 (AU$383,010) for Worlds of Wander, a game creator and content-sharing program that his team at Pieces of Fun is developing for Windows, Mac, and Linux, as well as iOS and Android tablets.

The game editor features a smart-draw function that makes it simple to populate the user’s platform game with art, NPCs, enemies, objects, and dangers, according to Hall.

Advanced users can use Hall’s WanderScript language to change the behavior of any object in the level, and cutscenes may be created using included WanDirector application.

The creation software comes bundled with a spiritual successor to Commander Keen called Secret Spaceship Club, which Hall created using Worlds of Wander.

According to the project's Kickstarter page, money is needed for servers and community support, along with art, design, and programming.

Stretch goals will add content such as new art styles, physics support, and more.

At the time of writing, Worlds of Wander has attracted US$16,328 from 437 backers, and has 25 days of campaign remaining.
