It looks like a new Ecco the Dolphin game might be in the works.

A series of tweets from Ecco creator Ed Annunziata mentioned that he had met with Sega regarding the franchise, and that Ecco 1 and 2 composer Spencer Nilsen was on board.

"Ecco fans, I need you to follow & tweethank @scottfoe, he convinced SEGA to meet with me now chances of a new Ecco the Dolphin x100!" read Annunziata’s first tweet.

This was followed by "Spencer is on board! (puttin' the band back together!)" and “It's nice to see BAD dolphin doodles on my office white board again!”

Ecco the Dolphin was initially developed for the Mega Drive in 1992, and it quickly spread to other platforms. It was followed by three sequels, the last of which – Ecco the Dolphin: Defender of the Future – was released for the Dreamcast and PlayStation 2 in 2000 .
