The classic educational title Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? is the latest game to be adapted by Hollywood.

The Hollywood Reporter states that the movie of the game is to be penned by Darren Lemke (Shrek Forever After), and co-produced by Jennifer Lopez. The Reporter adds that Lopez is considering herself for the titular role.

Carmen Sandiego games teach history and geography at the elementary grade. In the games, Sandiego was once the ACME agency’s greatest detective, but she throws it all in to become the world’s greatest thief. Her former partner, the player, must uncover clues, track her across the world, and unravel an even larger mystery.

Since the launch of the educational games in 1985, the Carmen Sandiego intellectual property has branched out into television, books and board games.

Walden Media acquired the rights to Carmen Sandiego last year. The company hopes the film can capitalise on Carmen Sandiego’s cross-generational appeal.
