Nintendo has lifted the lid on the graphics processing unit that powers their upcoming 3DS.

The company says that the PICA2000 chip “provides high quality graphics” with “low power consumption,” making it ideal for a handheld device.

The chip first rolled off the production line in 2006. Our own impressions from E3 put the 3DS’ graphics roughly on par with Nintendo’s home console, the Wii. Some more 3DS hardware details were revealed at Nintendo's E3 press conference and can be found though this link.
