Phil Spencer returned to the stage to detail Microsoft's streaming service Project xCloud, where he confirmed that all developers connected to the service two months ago. A Console Streaming mode will turn any Xbox One console into a personal streaming server. This October players will be able to play their games wherever they go.
Spencer then confirmed details for the company's highly anticipated next-gen console. Titled Project Scarlett, the console is being designed by the same team that created the Xbox One X.
"We heard you. The console should be designed for one thing, and one thing only: gaming," said Spencer – it would seem this console won't be using "TV, TV, and TV" as a selling point.
As for tech specs, the console will utilise Zen2 and Navi tech from AMD, and will be 4x more powerful than the Xbox One X. GDDR6 RAM will offer refresh rates of 120fps at 8K resolution.
The ray tracing detailed in Sony's upcoming console will also be capable on the Project Scarlett, while SSD storage will significantly reduce loading times.
A sizzle reel full of delicious buzzwords also mentioned features like the SSD being used as virtual RAM, while backwards compatibility was also hinted at. Given the Xbox One already offers that feature, it's a pretty safe lock for Project Scarlett.
The console is set to release Holiday 2020, with Halo Infinite confirmed as a launch title.
Microsoft closed out the conference with an amazing trailer for the game, featuring a pilot lost in space, discovering an old but familiar character.
