This weekend I did something incredibly dumb. I stayed up till 3am on Saturday morning playing Dead Cells and Hollow Knight, and then ended up playing from about 5pm Saturday till 5:30 AM on Sunday morning. Boy oh boy, I am feeling it today
"Why would I do this?", I hear you ask. Well, like many of you, I have a full time job outside of Gameplanet so have very little spare time. It's a never ending battle to find the time to actually sit down and just play a game simply for my own enjoyment. I'm lucky if I get an hour or two on a good weeknight to sit down and play and that's just not really enough for me to forget about the world and switch my brain to "shut up and game" mode.
Gaming has always been an escape for me. I'm one of those people who will lay in bed for hours with the cogs turning over and over ad nauseam. I play games to unwind and forget about the stresses of every day life. Only, recently, I'm finding less and less time to game during "normal" hours. I've taken to using my weekends as a crazy "gaming endurance" session where I scrape by on the absolute bare minimum amount of sleep so I can get some huge eight plus hour gaming sessions in. I know it's not healthy, but if I don't have my gaming time, I start to lose my mind a little bit.
I know I can't keep this up for long. I feel like a zombie today and swear I can still see a HUD with a diminishing life bar every time I close my eyes.
My question to you folks is this. Do you have a gaming planner? Do you dedicate certain times on certain days to gaming or do you just play whenever you get a chance? How do you fit gaming in to your every day life? I'm sure I'm not alone in this struggle.
Sound off and let me know how you get the balance right in the comments below! I need help and sleep ASAP!
