CONFIRMED (or might as well be)
The Last of Us Part II
Announced late 2016 and coming this year, this game “about hate” got a grisly cinematic at PSX. Expect a gameplay video alongside a release date.
Ghost of Tsushima
Infamous creator Sucker Punch announced Samurai epic Ghost of Tsushima at Paris Games Week. Infamous First Light released way back in 2014, so this one can’t be far away.
Announced E3 2016 with a confounding cinematic, Death Stranding is set for release "prior to 2019" for PlayStation 4. Maybe we’ll see some gameplay?
Insomniac’s take on your friendly neighbourhood superhero launches September 7, so Sony will be slinging a trailer and pre-order bonuses for sure.
Announced in 2016, Sony Bend’s post-apocalypse biker tale has been pushed to 2019, where there’s no Read Dead Redemption 2 or The Last of Us II.
It’s the cover game for June’s Game Informer, so it’ll definitely ride into Sony’s conference at some point.
Media Molecule’s platformer slash creation kit has been in development forever, and it is finally entering the real world this year.
Announced during Sony's E3 2015 press conference, Shenmue 3 was expected to release for PC and PS4 at some point last year, before being delayed to the second half of 2018.
Lost Soul Aside
After an impressive trailer for one-man project Lost Soul Aside did the rounds in 2016, Sony snapped up its developer and bulked up the dev team. The action-RPG is a timed PlayStation 4 exclusive, and its creator tweeted that he “will try to finish the game in 2018”. The game was playable at PlayStation Experience 2017 and GDC 2018 in March.
Yakuza Kiwami 2
The success of Yakuza Kiwami saw Sega rush to remake the second in its gangster series. It came out in Japan last December, and will release worldwide on August 28.
Shadows Die Twice
Depending on who you ask, “Shadows Die Twice” is either a title, a codename, or a tagline, and the game itself is anything from Bloodborne 2 to a Tenchu or Kuon sequel. What we do know: it’s the next game out of From Software, which teased the game last December and promised more information would come "in the next 12 months". The studio has said it is done with Dark Souls so we can probably rule that series out.
MediEvil 4K remaster
This was announced at PSX with a sparse teaser, but remasters don’t take as long as full games to create, so we might get a cinematic at least.
PSN ID change
In an interview at PlayStation Experience 2017, Sony bigwig Shawn Layden said he hoped to have a name change option available by next year's PSX. "I hope we'll see events occur that you won't have to ask me that question next PSX," he told Greg Miller. Well!
New PS VR controllers
Earlier this year, Sony patented motion controllers that look much more akin to those of Vive and Oculus, and less like its own crappy Move controllers. One patent showed a wand with an analogue stick, while the other showed plans for full finger tracking.
