Bethesda has announced that the fourth Fallout 3 expansion, Point Lookout, will be available on June 23. They've also released three new screenshots and a trailer.

Point Lookout includes a quest line set in the town bearing the same name, and will feature new perks and Achievements, much like the previous add-ons. The final add-on, entitled Mothership Zeta, is expected in July.

This Point Lookout release is for Windows and Xbox 360 only, the PlayStation 3 version will be released at a later date.

Are the add-ons really any good?

when i found out that i woud need to purchase three additional packs in order to play through the game i promptly stopped playing.

The add ons do exactly that, ADD ONS. They game is a complete game... the add ons are more content/things to do, you do not need to purchase them at all.

im aware that they are optional add-ons, but without them, your capped in level, gimped in the perks available etc, the game was clearly released with further expacs in mind, as the level structure, perks and gameplay framework for the packs is already present, now I know its standard practise these days but it still pisses me off when marketing strategy blatantly intrudes on what would otherwise be awesome games.

I can't tell if you are being serious or not, if so this has to be one of the most ignorant posts I have read on this forum.

OT: Can't wait, have really been enjoying the content so far, good of them to release this one in the holidays.

The guy is entitled to his opinion and i can see where he is coming from.

Personally I like expansions for the excitement factor, It just isn't the same when you are given all the content all in one go.

Well seeing as the game itself is complete and the Expansions are just extra content that isn't required, i don't have a problem with that. Asfar as i know the Expansions don't add to the main story (Project Purity w/e) so who cares?

But if it ever gets to the point where they think they can release a half assed half finished game for full retail and then finish it later with DLC then that is where i draw the line.

Only the 3rd expansion (Broken Steel) implements any changes to gameplay.

If you had bothered to read up on the material the Broken Steel added features address complaints from the fanbase, they weren't planned from the beginning. I.e. the level cap at 20, the anti-climactic ending and no continued play after the End Game.

Newsflash:- You can download mods that do the exact same thing as Broken Steel.

Most of the new perks are just shortcuts for lazy people - i.e. bump up all of your SPECIAL stats to 9, automatically shift your moral alignment to opposite ends of the spectrum, unlock all crafted weapon schematics.

the game is complete without the extra packs and more than completely finished.

I pretty much stuck to the main storyline, but still did most of the towns.
I know i missed the Ghoul Underworld and Tenpenny tower (may or may not be precise names)

And i still clocked at least 30, but when i hire games over a weekend i don't sleep often:P
Fallout 3 was good enough that i didn't really want to stop for sleep

Ah yep, I very rarely was playing the main storyline.

I've got it for PC but I kinda stopped playing because of small annoying things about the game system that can probably have mod fixes somewhere but i'm far too lazy to look for em.

A++ though, and I do log on for a couple hours each week or so to advance the storyline very slowly.

Will be going for the GOTY edition, definitely.

I still fire-up FO3 once-in-a-while just to mess around with Enclave Commander. Nothing cooler than calling in an air-support vertabird, or an airstrike or a friendly assault squad of enclave commandos. Combine this with creating a mod to give myself the Kernel's armor(but with PA stats) and I can have some wickedly fun and cool looking massive battles with supermutants.

Did you also complain about Diablo 2 not having as much environments, items, mobs, character classes etc without Lord of Destruction?
