Square Enix, the developer of Final Fantasy XIII and owner of the Final Fantasy franchise, has today announced that it has shipped more than five million units of Final Fantasy XIII.
The game has moved two million units in Japan and sent a further three million to the US and Europe.
These figures bring sales of the entire series to 96 million.
Square Enix have today announced as special Limited Collector’s Edition of their upcoming title, Final Fantasy XIII.
Available for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, the pack will comprise of the game itself, an exclusive soundtrack CD featuring in-game music handpicked by the game’s composer, Masashi Hamauzu; a hardback book titled The World of Final Fantasy, covering character artwork, CG rendered artwork and game environments; Exclusive Art Prints depicting the Eidolons – the summoned allies of the lead characters – and a unique Brand of the l’Cie decal, the most iconic symbol from the game’s storyline.
Square Enix has announced today that the “overseas version” of J-RPG Final Fantasy XIII is now complete and has made a curious deferential apology for the delay.
Game director Motomu Toriyama has also spoken about features that have been enhanced since last summer’s consumer survey: “One of those features is characters' facial animations, which work as the core of any human drama. Their movements are completely synchronised with the English lines and, due to this, each scene in the game is truly spectacular.

Square Enix have released a Japanese trailer for Final Fantasy XIII, hot on the heels of the announcement this morning that it will also be released for the Xbox 360.
At last years E3 convention, Square Enix announced that they'd undertaken a colossal project involving the development of various content for multiple platforms. "Fabula nova crystallis", defined in Latin as "the new tale of the crystal," is made up of several different titles based on variations of the Final Fantasy XIII universe. However, while each title in the project features different characters, different worlds, and different stories, all are ultimately based on and expand upon a common mythos.
