Despite the generally positive reviews received by Mirror's Edge back in late 2008, Electronic Arts have "stopped" future development of the franchise according to a Press 2 Play report translated by Eurogamer Sweden.
"EA was shown a prototype, but declined with askance. The project has been stopped - involved parties at DICE are working on something else now".
EA's president Frank Gibeau has previously gone on record stating that the original Mirror's Edge had various problems; “There were issues with the learning curve, the difficulty, the narrative, and then there was no multiplayer either.”
Gameplanet rated Mirror's Edge 8.5/10, noting that the dystopian parkour-inspired title offered a "fantastic foundation for future sequels".
DICE now appear to be totally committed towards the development of Battlefield 3. Their ambitious attempt to crush Activision's Call of Duty behemoth is due for release towards the end of 2011.
