What Vegas 2 seems to lack in the graphics department it surely makes up for in the multiplayer experience and with several different game modes to choose from, you shouldn’t get bored any time soon. I tried my hand at everything and really enjoyed both the ‘Terrorist Hunt’ game mode (where you and three other players can fight it out in terrorist-type situations online against AI on various maps) as well as the default 16 player online battles (which of course also includes a variety of game modes to choose from).

Team Deathmatch is one of my favourites although you can quickly get bored with this if you play it too much. That’s when it’s good to change the game mode to something a little more challenging like ‘Attack and Defend’ where your team is pitted against another (Alpha and Bravo teams respectively) and you're either attacking or defending the objective (which also changes depending on the map).

The weapons in Vegas 2 are quite standard, although there is a nice variety to choose from as you rank up in the game. My favourite weapon by far is the Sniper rifle, which is extremely accurate. It brought back memories of sniping in GRAW2, and fond ones at that.

There are a myriad of customisable options in the game ranging from your body armour and clothing to your face (as with Rainbow Six Vegas, you can also scan your own face onto your character if you so choose). The key to all of this is ranking up, so the more ‘Kills’ you get in the game the higher your rank -- which reinforces the fact that, underneath it all, Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is every bit the first person shooter.

The maps are good for various game modes and are suited to the game's slower, stealthily-styled play, rather than the fast-paced action of games like Call of Duty 4. Quite a few of the maps offer multiple areas where you can camp and snipe your way through the ranks if you want to. You can certainly try your luck at going Rambo but it’s recommended to stalk rather than run around, guns blazing. Even if you're a moving target, you’re still easy sniper fodder for the skilled gamers out there.

Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 will really appeal to the franchise's hardcore fans, but may disappoint first person shooter enthusiasts who enjoy themselves online by being able to roam freely, shooting their way to oblivion, no-holds barred. I enjoyed the refreshing change of pace.
