Blood, violence and being gruesome is something Condemned has down in spades. If you get queasy at the sight of blood, this game is not for you.

Especially the really cool forensics parts. You see, every now and then you’ll come across a corpse or crime scene or something where you need to gather information. This is a fantastic part of the game and really required you to use your brain to figure things out and get the perfect score. You really feel like you are solving crimes like a C.S.I guy. Using your UV black light is very handy and cool. No semen stains though.

There is multiplayer - which wasn’t in the first game. There’s typical deathmatch and then a more interesting mode which has a team of cops and bums going head to head. Oh, did I mention the bums have to hide two cases containing a severed head and the cops have to try finding and scanning them?

Multiplayer is OK for something a bit different but I don’t imagine most people sticking with it for too long. Also because the fighting is mostly melee there is a bit of a blind swinging feel to it. Fighting can get a bit chaotic and no amount of skill can really help you when the fists start flying.

There are also some side missions you can do outside of the single-player. These include killing as many bums as you can in five minutes or destroying 100 blow up dolls as quick as you can. (Boom boom blow up, not inflatable blow up. Yes, I could have said exploding dolls, but it's more fun this way.) There is also a practice fight mode and a few others. They are all pretty fun but like multiplayer you will try them a few times and then probably move on.

So, if you are looking for an intense single-player experience look no further than Condemned 2. It’s more traditional in its story-telling techniques, but that doesn’t make them any less effective. The combat is fun and in your face. The levels, while not entirely cohesive for the story, are well designed and vary enough to always stay interesting. The scary parts are scary and the creepy parts are creepy. The multiplayer probably won’t keep you coming back for long so look at this more as a great single-player game.

Just make sure you go to the bathroom before playing.
