The Xbox One version of free-to-play mythology-themed third-person ‘action MOBA’ Smite is now in open beta, developer Hi-Rez Studios has announced.

Better still, the game’s dedicated servers in Australia are also live, so you won’t have to suffer playing US-based matches.

Accounts of those who played during the closed beta will transition seamlessly into the open beta, with all god unlocks, experience, and cosmetics arriving intact.

Smite has been available on PC since March last year, and while it’s not yet rivalling the massive popularity of League of Legends and Dota 2, its players did crowdfund a prize pool of more than US$2.6m for its first World Championships earlier this year.

Also, there is an Oceania Pro League that provides a pathway for a local team to attend the World Championships.

“We’re delighted to offer Smite communities the best possible experience on PC and now console, and we are impressed with the growth of the game on PC in Australia,” said Hi-Rez Studios senior producer Andy Anderson.
