Co-op heist game Monaco is coming to XBLA and Steam, Pocketwatch Games has told Joystiq.

The game was picked up for distribution by Majesco after PAX East this year.

Online and couch co-op modes will be included alongside the game’s singleplayer campaign.

"Monaco was originally designed to be played with four friends on the couch, all planning and executing a heist together," said designer Andy Schatz.

The game won the Independent Games Festival Seumas McNally Grand Prize in 2010, an award claimed by Minecraft in 2011 and Fez this year.

That made Schatz realise that the game “really needed a wide release," he said.

"The marketplace has changed a lot over the last 3 years, and it really wasn't even possible to release the game in the way we wanted to until recently,” he added.

A release date is yet to be confirmed, but both PC and Xbox 360 versions will come out simultaneously.

"In the end, no one will buy Monaco because of the IGF awards," said Schatz.

"They will buy it because Monaco is awesome, and they want to skulk around a casino with their buddies."
