THQ has announced that Double Fine’s Costume Quest will be released on the 20th of October for Xbox LIVE Arcade and PlayStation 3.

The game will cost $USD 15.

Costume Quest is a trick-or-treating RPG and – objectivity be damned – looks awesome.

The game was originally scheduled for release on the 31st of October.

Costume Quest the first of four titles that Double Fine’s Tim Schafer has announced the studio is working on. There’s a second downloadable title scheduled for early 2011, also to be published by THQ, and two unannounced retail titles.

Double Fine has released the first screenshots of their upcoming downloadable title, Costume Quest. "Excitement! Terror! Sweets! Double Fine! We have announced the first of our four new games! It’s [animator] Tasha [Harris]’s awesome Halloween RPG, COSTUME QUEST!" It's due, appropriately, on the 31st of October.

THQ has announced that it will take publishing duties on Double Fine’s first downloadable title, Costume Quest.

According to 1UP, who have the first details about the game, “Costume Quest takes place on Halloween night, as players take on the roles of young trick-or-treaters. They collect candy, points, cards, battle stamps, and quest assignments from the neighbourhood. These serve as power-ups for Combat Mode, in which the kids turn into gigantic versions of their costumes complete with superpowers. They'll use these abilities to battle monsters in suburban neighbourhoods, shopping malls, and a carnival.”
