Bad Company will soon be a Fox-produced TV show

Battlefield: Bad Company is being made into a TV show, Deadline is reporting.

Fox is developing the show, which will be an hour-long action comedy featuring characters from the game.

It will be written by Alias writer and executive producer John Eisendrath, with Sony TV and Adam Sandler’s production house Happy Madison also on board.

EA today released a new Battlefield: Bad Company 2 trailer, this time showcasing VIP Map Pack 7 which includes four multiplayer maps never before available in the game including reworked versions of Oasis and Harvest Day from Battlefield: Bad Company.

BF:BC2 Onslaught coming to PC

DICE has confirmed that Battlefield: Bad Company 2 for PC will receive the Onslaught gameplay mode currently available on console versions of the game.

Bad Company 2 senior producer Patrick Bach told PC Gamer magazine, “We’re thrilled to bring something new and fresh to Battlefield: Bad Company 2 while still keeping Battlefield’s signature gameplay intact. We want to consistently support the over four million fans playing the game with new ways to get into multiplayer and also challenge the elite players with new experiences to improve their performance online.

“Effective squad play is the key to success in Battlefield: Bad Company 2 multiplayer and this new mode will provide players with a dedicated environment to test their team skills and rank against the competition,” he said.

DICE today released a new video for Battlefield: Bad Company 2, demonstrating the new mode entitled Onslaught. This is available today on Xbox LIVE Marketplace for 800 MS points and will launch via PlayStation Network on June 24th.

This afternoon our team in LA headed downtown for the Electronic Arts Media event, getting our first looks at the next Need for Speed and Medal of Honor games, a Bad Company 2 expansion and LucasArts's mega-scale MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic.

EA’s media briefing at the historic Orpheum Theatre in downtown Los Angeles kicked off with the announcement of Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit. Dated for November 16th, the Criterion-developed title hopes to simultaneously bring the series back to its roots and pave the way for adoption by the so-called “connected generation.”

In it, players compete online, chasing one another as either the police or as renegade mavericks driving outrageously expensive cars. Criterion highlighted Hot Pursuit’s Autolog – a suite of features “to connect, compare and compete.”

DICE studio today announced the first multiplayer expansion pack for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 where gamers will find themselves in an entirely new theatre of war – Vietnam.

Fighting as either U.S. Marines or North Vietnamese Army (NVA), the combat terrain of the Vietnamese jungle will be rendered via the Frostbite engine.

The Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam digital expansion pack will provide the multiplayer Battlefield: Bad Company 2 experience with new weapons, vehicles, unlocks, awards, achievements and trophies.

DICE has announced that a new four-player co-op mode, called Onslaught, will soon be available for console players of Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

Onslaught mode is currently not in development for PC. “We aren't ruling out Onslaught on PC, but at this time we are researching how to bring it to PC without affecting players who don't have Onslaught or their own server to run it on," said an associate producer at DICE. “We haven't given up on a PC version of Onslaught... just we have a lot things to work out first.”

There will initially be four maps available to play in Onslaught mode: Valparaiso, Atacama Desert, Isla Innocentes and Nelson Bay. They’ve all received slight makeovers such as new lighting and vehicles.

DICE has announced that a console version (and more) of last month’s PC patch for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is due on May 12th.

In addition to the PC changes, the console update will include:

Slightly increased the damage of the UZI at long range.
The AKs74u now has more felt recoil when aiming.
The G3, VSS, and all SemiAutomatic rifles now settle slightly faster between shots when aiming.
The PKM, Type 88LMG, G3, An94, and 40mm shotgun have returned to their former glory.
Increased the damage of the MG3 to bring it in line with the rest of the LMGs.
Fixed a bug where the Saiga12 with slugs would do too much damage at long range.
Fixed a bug where the SVU would do too little damage at long range.
Fixed a bug where M95 rounds would not kill armored targets with headshots.

Bad Company 2 DLC dated

DICE has discussed and dated their plans for the first downloadable content pack for Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

On the 31st of March, NZT, two existing maps, Arica Harbour and Laguna Presa, will be available in alternate game modes.

Arica Harbour, currently only available in Rush, will be playable in Conquest mode. Laguna Presa, a Conquest map, will be available in Rush mode.

The original Bad Company had its problems – I don’t think anyone, even the developers can deny that. But what it did do successfully was lay down a platform of interesting, personable characters who could be dropped into any environment and breathe life into what could otherwise be a formulaic FPS game.

It’s the characters that make the game and the familiar four protagonists are back once more, but not with the riches of Nazi gold in mind, this time the stakes are raised as B Company are charged with finding a devastating new weapon that could start WWIII.

While I don’t want to draw too many comparisons to Infinity Wards’ Modern Warfare 2, the two games do run several parallels. DICE obviously knew that comparisons were going to be made and rather than turn their noses up or pretend that there were no similarities, they have tackled the issue head on and thrown in some beautifully timed digs to the ribcage of MW2.

With a heavy arsenal of deadly weapons and a slew of vehicles to aid them, the game's protagonists set off on a mission ready to blow up, shoot down, blast through, wipe out and utterly destroy anything that gets in their way.

As a part of Project Ten Dollar, EA’s new strategy to motive first-hand purchases, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will offer two maps as release-day downloadable content.

The two maps are Laguna Alta, a Conquest map, and Nelson Bay, a Rush map, bringing the total number of multiplayer maps to ten.

These maps will be unlockable with one of the “VIP” codes that ships with every new retail version of the game. Another code will be included which unlocks another two maps in late March. They are Arica Harbour (Conquest) and Laguna Presa (Rush).

Gameplanet has begun producing a web video show featuring kiwi gamers talking about the latest games. This episode (filmed in Auckland's beautiful Onehunga) features C&C4, Mass Effect 2, Army of Two: The 40th Day and Battlefield: Bad Company 2. The show is still very much a work in progress so please send us your feedback.

Battlefield BC2 to have launch DLC

DICE have confirmed that Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will include launch day downloadable content, an announcement that brings the title in line with EA’s Project Ten Dollar.

In an interview with WorthPlaying, DICE senior producer Patrick Bach said, "We have an in-game store where you get free content or you can buy new content to the game, so it's a very integral part of the game that we will have a long post-launch campaign.
