A 12-minute Deus Ex fan film called Human Revolution is available to watch for free from today.

The film was written and directed by Moe Charif, who also stars as Adam Jensen.

It is based on Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and focuses on the relationship between Adam Jensen and Megan Reed, a scientist hand-picked by Serif Industries to head Cybernetic Augmentations.

The “definitive version” of Deus Ex: Human Revolution is coming to the Wii U, Square Enix has announced.

The Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director’s Cut features GamePad touchscreen controls for hacking minigames and so forth, but the biggest change is to the game’s much-maligned boss battles.

New traps and devices hidden in boss rooms will allow them to be defeated without players needing to fire a shot, opening up new hacking and stealth strategies for each.

CBS films has announced that Scott Derrickson (The Exorcism of Emily Rose) will co-write and direct the upcoming Deus Ex film.

The boss battles in Human Revolution were widely ciriticised as they universally demanded a direct approach whereas the rest of the game could be negotiated by stealth.

You may recognise him. At least parts of him. Stitched together from the gravelly intonation of Christian Bale's Dark Knight, a healthy dose of wardrobe advice from the Matrix, and supplemented by Keanu Reeves' wooden acting style, Jensen is not the deepest of characters. His is also not the deepest of stories.

But Deus Ex is one of those titles that is more than the sum of its parts. In isolation, any one feature of the game is above average but not ground-breaking. Interesting but not innovative. You've seen it all before. What makes the title shine is the way it's all packaged together.

This most recent instalment in the Deus Ex series is the long awaited prequel to the hugely popular title originally released in 2000.

With a wealth of time behind its belt Eidos Montreal will have fans breathing a sigh of relief the moment the game is seen in motion. From the way augmentations to your character affect gameplay to the care with which the world around has been crafted the team at Eidos appears to have recognised what made the original such a hit and seeks to up the ante.

The protagonist, Adam Jensen, is a security specialist working for Sarif Industries founder and augment-entrepreneur David Sarif. The player is introduced to Jensen as he goes about his business on the eve of a hugely important political hearing due to debate the practice of human augmentation. Charged with protecting the staff at Sarif Jensen must fend off a devastating attack on the lab by heavily augmented, black op mercenaries.
