Nintendo’s Wii U sold only 160,000 units globally over the last three months.
Software sales for the struggling system only amounted to 1.3 million units over the same period.
By comparison, the Wii U sold 390,000 units, and 13.42 million games in the three months prior.
Nintendo blamed the system’s poor performance on a lack of compelling first-party releases.
In the past three months the older Wii sold 210,000 units, and the handheld 3DS sold 1.4 million units.
Despite the very poor showing, Nintendo believes it is still on track to have sold 9 million Wii U consoles and 38 million games come the system’s first anniversary later in the year.
