Nintendo is set to reveal the Wii 2 at E3 this year, report several sources close to Game Informer.

Those sources claim that the system will be HD and that Nintendo is already demonstrating the console to third-party publishers.

Game Informer’s source stated, “It is our understanding that Nintendo is trying to embrace the Western gamer and will likely launch a new brand with this console.”

IGN’s moles corroborate, with one claiming that the Wii 2 is “significantly more powerful than the PlayStation 3" and that Nintendo plans to “recapture the hardcore market.”

Nintendo has responded, saying “Nintendo does not comment on rumor or speculation,” but said to Game Informer, “stay tuned.”
