We've posted some trailers for this JRPG which will be released in NZ on 26 June for PSP.

Looks interesting...

The series has been phenomenally successful in Japan, and Capcom and Sony seem to be real keen to emulate that success in western markets, with a huge worldwide marketing campaign planned. Be interesting to see if it works!

They even have a special PSP bundle for Europe, I don't think that's coming here though. :(

Heard a lot about this, first time I've seen it though.

All the item combo stuff looks a little hardcore for me :p

Looks pretty much same as Monster Hunter 1 and 2....which really is to say, great if you like that kind of stuff, completely obnoxious if you don't :) It's not just items combining either....in MH1 & 2 you have a farm so can plant different items to grow into others, you also had the Felyne Chefs that could make you different meals between missions that had different effects, you have to keep your weapons in good condition otherwise they lose effectiveness. There was hundreds of different item combinations, you can fish for certain items, mine for some, catch bugs for others......add into that about 6 different major weapon types each with their own traits.....if you wanted you could probably throw an easy 50 hours at this game and still feel overwhelmed :)

Only problem I had with the Monster Hunter games is that as a single player, I never got to really enjoy the full awesomeness, taking down some of those monsters on your own is damn tricky, whereas if you had 1+ partner then tactics using traps, bombs, diversions and different short and long range tactics really come into play.

I ended up selling my MH1 as I got too frustrated...bought MH2 later hoping it was more for single players...realised it was basically MH1 with improvements :(
Still, now have a bit of a hankering to get it out and dust it off

*Yawn* Looks like an offline MMO.

Capcom reasoning for the series' popularity in Japan is because of local MP
, good luck with that being a selling point to the typical Western gamer, especially considering how unpopular the PSP is.

Disclaimer: May be unenjoyable if not in a densely packed urban centre full of people playing handheld games.

This is the best game on psp i've ever played. Also, i've played it with my friends on xlink kai which increases the fun 10 fold. Theres been an english patch out for the japanese version for quite awhile.

It has a decent install base. It's just that most of those people are pirating games.
