BioShock PS3

Review

What can we say? It's BioShock for the PS3. No major graphical updates here, nor has the story been modified in any meaningful way. But, it's BioShock, and therefore a must-buy for any platform it's available on.

BioShock

PS3 HANDS ON by Dan Cheer 18 Sep 2008, 7:39 pm

BioShock

BioShock is a bit of a mixed bag.

On the one hand, you have the incredible world of Rapture, the sunken art-deco metropolis constructed as a testament to founder Andrew Ryan's lunacy. Teeming with tortured souls, this dilapidated dystopian world groans under the weight of the Atlantic Ocean, setting the scene for some of the scariest, most spine-chilling action ever seen in a first-person shooter.

On the other hand, you have to listen to the subtle criticism levelled at a game that never quite managed to match the story depth adequately to the phenomenal surroundings. One could also point out the lack of gameplay innovation and the chore-based mission structure, but we're not here to apply 20/20 hindsight to last year's blockbuster. The real question here is why 2K has deemed it necessary to release a done-and-dusted game back into the wild on a new platform?

BioShock coming to the iPhone

NEWS by Dan Cheer 3 Jun 2008, 11:25 am

We heard last week that BioShock would be ported to the PS3, however we weren't expecting the news that 2K Games’ highly acclaimed title will soon be landing on the iPhone platform.

Mobile development house IG Fun is doing the mobile conversion of the original title and plans to bring a version to several mobile platforms, with a 2D rendition in the works for handsets unable to handle a 3D game of this sort. IG Fun CEO Sean Malatesta demonstrated an early 3D demo of the game running on a BREW (Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless) handset which Pocket Gamer reports “looked spectacular” with impressive visuals that should please even die-hard fans of the console / PC original.

Meanwhile, the rest of the gaming world eagerly awaits BioShock 2.
