Review

Mirror's Edge 2 scrapped

Despite the generally positive reviews received by Mirror's Edge back in late 2008, Electronic Arts have "stopped" future development of the franchise according to a Press 2 Play report translated by Eurogamer Sweden.

"EA was shown a prototype, but declined with askance. The project has been stopped - involved parties at DICE are working on something else now".

EA's president Frank Gibeau has previously gone on record stating that the original Mirror's Edge had various problems; “There were issues with the learning curve, the difficulty, the narrative, and then there was no multiplayer either.”

Mirror's Edge

PS3 E3: HANDS ON by Bernard Gomez 22 Jul 2008, 6:17 pm

Mirror's Edge

Most of you have probably seen that by-now infamous Mirror’s Edge video where Faith is running along a rooftop filled with crates and fences, whilst utilising jumps, rolls, wall-runs, and free running leaps from one building to the other. (If you haven't, download it here.)

At E3 2008, we got a chance to do just that, with DICE’s Creative Director, Lars Gustavson, talking us through the action.

If you’ve been following Mirror’s Edge, you'll know the premise by now. You play as “runner” Faith who is a courier in a Big Brother-style future where your job is to get messages through from right under the nose of The Man. There isn’t much revealed about the plot yet, but that’s hardly the point of the game now, is it?

E3: Mirror's Edge trailer

NEWS by Dan Cheer 15 Jul 2008, 2:44 pm

Electronic Arts have released a new Mirror's Edge trailer for the E3 convention in Los Angeles this week.

The game's name derives from the mirror-like aesthetic of the city of tall, gleaming skyscrapers and your characters existence on the fringes of that city along with other dissidents, who have been pushed to the edge.

Though set in a seemingly utopian city environment with low crime, clean streets, and sterile architecture, it is ruled by a totalitarian government regime that conducts unbridled levels of surveillance on citizens. In this world of communications monitoring, the only way to deliver confidential information between parties is to employ couriers (called runners) to physically deliver the information.
