For newcomers to the fighting genre, Dark Resurrection ensures you're not left out in the cold. There are a couple of tutorial modes - you can use the Practice mode to work on basic punches, kicks and combinations. As well as Practice mode, there is also 'Tekken Dojo' where you get to choose a character and undergo special training against the ‘Ghost System’ which enables fighters to battle computer generated opponents in a virtual arena. Your character will be able to battle a variety of opponents and as you improve in skill and rank, you can progress to the next dojo. The difficulty level increases as you progress.

If fighting and more fighting tends to wear your virtual knuckles thin, you can always take a break in the game by playing mini-games. A lot of games these days are appearing with the mini-game option. It’s a neat feature, allowing players to take a bit of a break from the game before continuing on. Instead of reaching for another game entirely, why not offer a different game within the game you're already playing? Tekken: Dark Resurrection comes with the mini-game option but there’s a catch; you have to unlock the games to be able to play them.

Tekken: Dark Resurrection

Dark Resurrection comes with all the normal features one would expect. You can create your own profile and adjust the difficulty level. You can also adjust all of the game options, sound options and control settings. There is a Theatre option that allows you to view all of the character cut-scenes once they are unlocked in story mode and you can even access the music used in the game. Loading times between each battle/mode is pretty good, giving you just enough time to be ready for your next opponent.

Tekken: Dark Resurrection personifies everything good in a fighting game. We couldn’t really summarise it better than that. If you are a fan of Tekken or any fighting game for that matter, you do not want to go without what could easily be the best hand-held fighting game to be released.
