The second season of tactical shooter Rainbow Six Siege has officially begun, with the launch of a new season pass at digital retailers.

The PlayStation and Xbox Stores both carry the season pass, which is priced at US$30 and includes eight new operator characters across four DLC packs, to which season pass holders will gain access 7 days in advance of regular folks.

Also included are eight exclusive pieces of headgear and uniform customisation, a R6 Carbon charm, and 600 in-game credits.

A "VIP bonus" will grant season pass holders 10% discounts on in-game items; a 5% Renown boost; and 2 extra daily challenges, lasting until February 7th 2018.

The season pass replaces the existing season pass, meaning that players will be unable to purchase the game's Year One operators in a pack.

Ubisoft announced that the game would receive a second year of support earlier in the month.

It is still unknown what theming and timing will apply to the new operators, or what new maps - if any - will accompany them.
