Bandai Namco and From Software today announced the first expansion to their acclaimed RPG Dark Souls III, entitled Ashes of Ariandel.

Players will visit the frozen realm of Ariandel and, in familiar Dark Souls fashion, piece together its dark mysteries while fighting increasingly hideous and mean-spirited enemies.

The trailer shows new weapons, armour, and spells, including fire-breathing and a magic boomerang, as well as new enemy types and some typically enormous and terrifying bosses.

Bandai Namco also said the expansion will bring new features to the game's in-line multiplayer component.

A second expansion will release in early 2017.

Ashes of Ariandel releases October 25th on new-gen consoles and PC, and requires Dark Souls III to play.
