Titanfall 2's open multiplayer beta will start this coming weekend, publisher Electronic Arts announced today.

The "tech test" is designed to "find, fix, and kill potential issues before launch," and will be open to everyone on the correct platforms.

From Friday August 19th to Sunday August 21st, two modes and two maps will be available.

Bounty Hunt pits two teams of 5 against each other and against the Remnant Fleet, and requires players "bank" their points between waves in order to build scores.

Pilots vs Pilots, on the other hand, is a fairly straightforward 8v8 mode that simply removes Titans from play.

The following weekend, August 26th through 28th, will see the beta return bearing an additional game mode and map.

That mode, Armed Hardpoint, is a new version of the first game's Hardpoint Domination, wherein players can "amp" capture points - and double their score - by defending them.

Progression will be capped at Level 10 on the first weekend, and opened up to Level 15 on the second weekend, with additional weapons also becoming available.

The open beta will only be available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, in order to avoid datamining leaks from the PC build.

Titanfall 2 releases October 28th on new-gen consoles and PC.
