Tom Clancy's The Division has supplied Ubisoft with its biggest-ever launch, says the developer/publisher.

The game "has sold more copies in its first 24 hours than any game in Ubisoft's history," according to an Ubisoft blog post.

Though Destiny still holds the record for biggest launch of a new gaming IP, The Division comes in second, followed by fellow Ubisoft brands Watch Dogs and Assassin's Creed.

Ubisoft declined to supply full sales numbers for the game, but trumpeted its success nonetheless.

"This is a momentous day for Ubisoft, but more importantly it marks the start of millions of players' enduring engagement in The Division's game world, which we are confident they will love," said CEO Yves Guillemot.

The scale of the launch can be seen in the queueing issues encountered by many in-game.

The Division is now available on new-gen consoles and PC.
