Star Wars: Battlefront will get free DLC in addition to the paid Season Pass content, according to EA DICE.
The Battlefront website reads that the studio "will be adding more of what you love about the game, like new maps and Star Cards, for free in the coming months, in addition to all of the content we have coming with Season Pass."
"In the coming months" implies the Battle of Jakku DLC, hitting in early December, is just the first of several pieces of free content.
EA has received much criticism over the Battlefront Season Pass, which offers a heap of additional maps, modes, heroes, and powerups — and is priced at nearly the full cost of the base game.
Whether free DLC was always planned or whether it was introduced as a reaction to that criticism is unknown, but either way, it's a reversal that could take a tiny amount of the sting away for players.
The Battle of Jakku DLC, featuring two new maps and a new game mode, arrives December 1st for pre-orderers and December 8th for everyone else.
