      <title>Titanfall 2 review</title>

<p><strong>[i]Titanfall 2[/i] is a gigantic stompy robot that for whatever reason is slipping by gamers unnoticed. This is a travesty, as it's an incredible title – easily one of the best of the year.</strong></p><p>The first Titanfall was an underplayed gem hampered by a console exclusivity deal, a slim content offering at launch, and community-splitting DLC. For a full price multiplayer-only title, that spelled death &ndash; especially on PC, where the community evaporated faster than resolutions on New Year's Day.</p>

<p>Even so, anticipation has been building all year for this sequel, and I'm pleased to report that it more than atones for the sins of its predecessor, giving <i>Overwatch</i> a serious run for its money as competitive FPS of the year.</p>

<p>The biggest surprise is <i>Titanfall 2</i>'s campaign. Its space dragons and giant robots take on the wild frontier stands out against the dull future-shock mirror glass of closest competitor <i>Call of Duty</i>, and it seems however much of Infinity Ward remains at Respawn Entertainment has kept the creative fire from that studio's glory days blazing.</p>

      <title>Titanfall 2 post-release DLC to be free for all</title>

<p>All post-release <i>Titanfall 2</i> content will be made available to players free of charge, says developer Respawn.</p>

<p>In a post on the game's <a href="https://www.titanfall.com/en_us/news/titanfall-2-is-a-different-shooter/" class="content" target="_blank">official site</a>, the company stated that &quot;all maps &amp; modes will be free in <i>Titanfall 2</i> Multiplayer.&quot;</p>

<p>&quot;Once you&rsquo;ve purchased <i>Titanfall 2</i>,&quot; the post reads, &quot;your investment includes a full single player campaign, the full multiplayer maps and modes, and long-term support with no hidden costs.&quot;</p>

<p>Two additional game modes have been confirmed for <i>Titanfall 2</i> - one old, one new - and accessing one of them may require bowing to one of the biggest cliches of gaming culture.</p>

<p>Attrition mode, in which teams of players fight each other, aided and abetted by numerous AI grunts - returns from the original game.</p>

<p>The score limit has been upped from 300 to 400 in the new title, and the AI improved, but otherwise the gameplay appears identical to the popular original Attrition mode.</p>

<p class="question"><span class="q">Q:</span> I was a huge fan of the campaign in <i>Call of Duty: Modern Warfare</i>, so as a PlayStation gamer I'm really excited to see this series come to the PS4.</p>

<p><b>Emslie:</b> We were there on <i>Call of Duty 4</i>, and I have a very weird, kinda familiar feeling that I've had on <i>Titanfall 2</i> which I had when we were doing <i>Call of Duty 4</i>. This game almost feels like a spiritual successor to what we had done; the types of things we had done in those days. So it's pretty exciting to be at this point... to have a single player and to be releasing to Sony.</p>

<p class="question"><span class="q">Q:</span> There was a narrative and established world in the first <i>Titanfall</i>, despite there not being a campaign mode. Will that be expanded upon in <i>Titanfall 2</i>, or will you cover that again for those that missed out?</p>

      <title>Respawn responds to player feedback on Titanfall 2</title>

<p>Respawn Entertainment has responded to player feedback on last weekend's <i>Titanfall 2</i> technical test, answering questions and outlining the game's path forward.</p>

<p>Up front, the studio stressed that the test build was a &quot;slimmed-down view of the game,&quot; featuring fewer weapons, abilities, and maps than the full game.</p>

<p>The test - based on code from June, thanks to console certification timelines - was designed primarily to examine the performance of the game's dedicated servers and &quot;Stryder&quot; matchmaking software, including their ability to withstand high traffic and network attacks.</p>

<p>In a presentation at developer Respawn last week, producer Drew McCoy told press that the studio wished to satisfy players who &quot;wanted to know more about [<i>Titanfall</i>'s] universe and the characters within it.&quot;</p>

<p>Produced over two years, the &quot;thoughtful&quot; campaign puts players in control of boringly-named foot soldier Jack Cooper, as he tries to work his way toward becoming a Titan pilot (specifically, with his Titan companion BT-7274).</p>

      <title>Titanfall 2 preview</title>

<p>Titanfall seemed to drop off the radar faster than it should have. A cracking multiplayer FPS that eventually found an audience of 10 million, it was possibly hamstrung by a smaller-than-expected Xbox One install base at launch. However, the main complaint appeared to be that the game was too thin content-wise. When the first maps DLC dropped from orbit, it also split the player base, and server populations dwindled as a result.</p>

<p>&ldquo;We&rsquo;ve heard the call for more content,&rdquo; <i>Titanfall 2</i> single player design lead Mackey McCandlish tells me in a nondescript room away from the noisy areas of EA&rsquo;s Play event in Los Angeles. &ldquo;But we still want every ability to be unique and have its own gameplay pattern.&rdquo;</p>
