Ubisoft has announced that the multiplayer beta for Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood will kick off on the 4th of October. Access is limited to people who have preordered any edition of the game for PlayStation 3.

The beta will include nine characters across two maps, Rome and Castle Gandolfo – we can already hear the jokes.

There will be two game modes, Wanted and Alliance. The latter sees two teams of players join up to “fulfil contracts and confuse enemies in tandem.”

Ubisoft have also announced that the PC version of the game has been delayed into 2011. Previously it was due for release simultaneously with console versions.

Ubisoft have given no reason for the delay but we wouldn’t be surprised to discover it has to do with DRM and piracy – an issue the company has painted itself into a corner over.
