The Walking Dead will return for a third season

The Walking Dead will be back for a third season, Telltale Games president Kevin Bruner and comic creator Robert Kirkman confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con.

The fourth of the game’s five second season episodes was released last week.

There was no mention of story details or a release date for season three.

Telltale Games is working on a Game of Thrones title, as well as Tales from the Borderlands. It's probably a safe assumption that The Wolf Among Us will get a second season as well.

Bungie details Destiny's six-player raids

Bungie has finally opened up about Destiny's six-player raid content designed to challenge top level characters.

Speaking with IGN, Bungie's Luke Smith described raids as "one of the pillars of the game". Players will need to group with five other friends and there will be no random matchmaking as communication will be essential, he add.

"The activity is going to take you and your group of five buddies into a place that you’ve never been. A place that you will return to frequently. And demand of you things you’ve never even really been asked to do in a shooter before," said Smith.

More than 4 million people participated in the Destiny beta, making it the biggest ever for a new intellectual property, Activision has announced.

The beta, which began first on PlayStation consoles on July 18 and finished on all consoles July 28, was played by 4,638,937 unique players.

"This is the biggest beta of this console generation by a wide margin and the largest console beta ever for a new video game IP to date,” said Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg. "Hosting a beta at this scale is an incredible feat, so we’re thrilled to see the phenomenal response."

The Last of Us live reading reveals epilogue that was removed from game

An epilogue cut from The Last of Us was performed at yesterday’s live reading of the acclaimed game.

The Last of Us director Neil Druckmann said the scene is a goodbye to Joel and Ellie, and asked those in attendance to not record it as he didn’t want it released in any form.

According to posts on NeoGAF, the scene was set four years after the end of the game and took place at Tommy’s dam. Ellie is listening to music alone when Joel enters and chats with her about Tommy’s plan to get him to marry a woman named Esther. Ellie acts somewhat distant.

Battlefield Hardline's story involves a framed cop going rogue to clear his name

The singleplayer campaign in Battlefield Hardline concerns a cop who is framed for a crime he didn’t commit, and his journey through the criminal underworld to clear his name.

As reported by Polygon, the story was detailed by narrative consultant Wendy Calhoun (Nashville, Justified) at Comic-Con 2014.

"We start off with the narrative of two cops who are good cops, and one really wants to prove himself," Calhoun explained.

Destiny beta now open to almost everyone

Got FOMO over the Destiny beta? Well prepare to get un-FOMO’d, as it is now open to (almost) everybody.

There is one catch – you’ll need Xbox Live Gold or PlayStation Plus. Oh, and a console.

It looks like the beta is being opened up to stress test the servers.

“Our work is not done. There is more we can learn. To make this happen, we need more Guardians to play. This is, above all else, a test,” said Bungie.

“Look for offers to download the beta directly from your console."

Bungie addresses concerns over the size of Destiny

Bungie has sought to reassure fans that Destiny will have plenty of content to play through when it releases on September 9.

Leaked data files indicate that Destiny will contain four areas: Earth, the Moon, Mars, and Venus. Each location will contain a single destination, meaning the Cosmodrome and the Tower are the only Earth locations so far.

In light of that, some players have expressed concern over the total size of Bungie's upcoming shooter. The beta, which appeared to include all the Cosmodrome content, could be completed in a few ponderous hours.

Sony settles PSN outage class-action, but denies wrongdoing

Sony has agreed to settle a class-action lawsuit that stems from the weeks-long outage of PlayStation Network in 2011, but it continues to deny that the data of its users was vulnerable.

"A proposed settlement has been reached in the class action lawsuits arising from the April 2011 criminal cyber-attacks on the PlayStation Network, Qriocity, and Sony Online Entertainment services," a Sony representative told Polygon.

"Information regarding the proposed settlement, which is subject to final approval by the Court, is available in the settlement agreement and other documents filed with the Court.

Not considering a The Last of Us sequel is "a disservice" to fans – Naughty Dog

If Naughty Dog didn’t consider a sequel to The Last of Us, it “would be a disservice” to the studio and the game’s fans, says community strategist Arne Meyer.

Speaking with Videogamer, Meyer mulled over the possibility of another game set in The Last of Us’ universe.

“I think we always make a smart decision in that all of our games are self-contained stories so they don’t have to continue if we don’t want them to or if there’s no reason for them to continue,” he said.

Dragon Age: Inquisition release delayed six weeks

The release of Dragon Age: Inquisition has been delayed six weeks in order to give it an extra layer of polish, EA has announced.

Inquisition was due out on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and Windows PC on October 9, but will now hit on November 21.

“We appreciate the enormous support we’ve received from all of you to get to this point, and while this extra few weeks may not seem like a lot, I know the game you’ll play will be all the better for it,” said executive producer Mark Darrah.

The Evil Within is now coming out earlier than expected

Bethesda will release Shinji Mikami's new survival horror game The Evil Within a week earlier than was previously announced.

Speaking at QuakeCon, Bethesda PR and marketing boss Pete Hines said The Evil Within will now be released on October 16 in New Zealand. It had previously been confirmed for October 21.

The change in date will mean The Evil Within is no longer being released on the same day as 2K's Evolve, which is on a hot streak after picking up numerous accolades at E3.

Battlefield Hardline delayed to 2015

The release of Battlefield Hardline has been pushed to 2015 so the game may be improved and expanded, DICE has announced.

Feedback from the game’s beta got DICE thinking about what else it could put in the game, said studio VP Karl Magnus Troedsson.

“The more we thought about these ideas, the more we knew we had to get them into the game you will all be playing,” he said.

“However, there was only one problem. We would need more time. Time that we didn’t have if we decided to move forward with launching in just a couple of months.

“We decided that the right thing to do was to take more time to ensure Hardline is the best, most innovative Battlefield experience we can give to you, our fans.”
