GTA V patch affects new-gen graphics quality

The latest patch for Grand Theft Auto V on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One has led to a downturn in the game's graphical performance.

Rockstar said it is aware of the issue and is working on a fix.

"We are aware of some graphical issues on the Xbox One and PS4 versions of GTAV after the most recent Title Update, and we are investigating a fix now," said Rockstar.

The patch, 1.08, included a laundry list of bug fixes and changes.

The issue does not appear to affect the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 editions of Grand Theft Auto V.

Kojima confirms he is "100% involved" in Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

Hideo Kojima has said he is 100 percent involved in the development of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain.

“I want to reassure fans that I am 100% involved and will continue working on Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain,” said Kojima in a joint statement with Konami. “I’m determined to make it the greatest game I’ve directed to date. Don’t miss it.”

Kojima's statement followed rumours that the developer and publisher Konami would part ways after the completion of The Phantom Pain.

An anonymous source told Gamespot that some senior Kojima Productions staff are now contractors rather than full-time employees, and that they are expected to depart once Metal Gear Solid V is complete.

According to the source, “power struggles” between Kojima Productions and Konami were the catalyst for the changes, and some senior staff at the studio now have restricted access to corporate Internet, emails, and phones.

Borderlands 2 writer regrets silent heroes

Borderlands 2 writer Anthony Burch says he now regrets the minimal amount of dialogue he and the team wrote for the player characters.

Speaking with Kotaku, Burch said he was first inspired by games like Half-Life and Portal to write silent characters in order to reduce the barriers between the player and the game world.

"This kind of characterisation works, in theory, because if your character never says anything you (the player) disagree with, you're more 'immersed,'" Burch said. "You're not at risk of your protagonist saying something that you personally disagree with."

The last-gen versions of Mortal Kombat X have been delayed, publisher Warner Bros. has confirmed.

The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions will now release in winter, while the new-gen and PC versions are still on track for an April 16 launch.

The last-gen versions are being handled by High Voltage Software, the company that ported NeatherRealm’s Injustice: Gods Among Us to PlayStation 4 and PC, and 2011’s Mortal Kombat to PC, among others.

Warner also announced that Jason Voorhees from the Friday the 13th films will be a playable character in Mortal Kombat X via the Kombat Pack DLC.

The Kombat Pack is still in development, but upon release will include access to three other playable characters as well, two of which are "Klassic Mortal Kombat Kombatants", according to Warner.
