Massive update brings Biker culture to GTA Online; Redux mod finally launches

Massive update brings Biker culture to GTA Online; Redux mod finally launches

You'll soon be able to officially form and lead your own motorcycle club in GTA Online.

Rockstar has announced that its upcoming Bikers update will allow up to eight players to roll around together and wreak havoc on two wheels.

Bikers will introduce new roles to play from fresh Prospects to club Presidents, alongside what Rockstar is calling a massive slate of new competitive and co-op gameplay.

There will be a range of new motorcycles, properties that include MC Clubhouses with a special custom Biker mechanic, and venues for seedy business ventures.

Bikers will also include a selection of appropriately-themed new modes for bikers of all kinds, along with new weapons, styles, tattoos and features.

Destiny children's book is an illustrated Grimoire alternative

Bungie is planning a full-scale release for a children's book based on its online sci-fi shooter Destiny.

Entitled D Is For Destiny, the book assigns each letter of the alphabet a different concept from the game, presumably so that children can learn what their parents are talking about when they grumble about loot drops or Oryx.

The text's rhyming, alliterative couplets explain the game's lore in a child-friendly fashion, accompanied by illustrations, possibly telling its story more clearly than the game itself.

Alien: Isolation could get official VR support

While the saying may be "in space, no one can hear you scream", in VR your screams might end up annoying everyone in the vicinity.

But that might not deter Sega, which is considering getting into the VR race – starting with Alien: Isolation.

In an interview with MCV, Sega Europe head Jurgen Post went into detail about the avenues the company is exploring.

Dying Light players have killed a whole lot of zombies

Dying Light players have killed a whole lot of zombies

Players of zombie action game Dying Light have really outdone themselves, according to statistics released by developer Techland.

In a new video entitled "Book of Records," the studio released a slew of data recorded by the game, revealing (amongst other things) that players have:

Destroyed 389,300,768 roofs, or all the houses in India and the United States combined;
Travelled 1,000,105,940 kilometres, or approximately the distance from Earth to Jupiter and back;
Climbed 125,105,940 km, or over 14 million Mount Everests;
Driven 49,380,980 km, or about 1200 laps of the Earth;
Set off 422,106,064 firecrackers, equivalent to about half a kiloton of TNT;
Cut off 303,105,714 heads, which would collectively weigh half again as much as the Troll A offshore natural gas drilling platform, the heaviest manmade object in history;
Run over 835,582,580 zombies, or over 200 times the entire historical road toll of the United States;
Fired 130,106,024 arrows, which would cause enough damage to defeat every Dark Souls boss, at NG+6, over 27,000 times.

Grand Theft Auto could teach self-driving cars to see

Grand Theft Auto could teach self-driving cars to see

Self-driving car AI may learn how to read the world from games like Grand Theft Auto, thanks to a paper published by a group of researchers this week.

The Intel Labs and Darmstadt University researchers were involved in training vehicle AI to recognise objects in the world - people, cars, sidewalks, poles, signs, trees, and so on - using annotated real-life images as reference points.

Those images - from the Cambridge-Driving Labeled Video Database, or CamVid - had to have each object outlined and annotated by hand, in a process that took a great deal of time.

However, the researchers (Stephan R. Richter, Vibhav Vineet, Stefan Roth, and Vladlen Koltun) found that video from open-world games like Grand Theft Auto V were realistic enough to use in the AI-training process - and could be annotated in a fraction of the time.

Destiny's Private Matches go live following MLG livestream

Destiny's private matches were expected to hit next week with the Rise of Iron expansion, but Bungie apparently couldn't wait that long.

Following an exhibition livestream on MLG, the developer has flipped the switch and brought the PvP feature online, almost a week early.

Through private matches, players can set game type, map, score and time limits, as well as the time of day.

Destiny 2.4.0 preps for Rise of Iron, tweaks everything

Destiny 2.4.0 preps for Rise of Iron, tweaks everything

Bungie has released a significant update to Destiny to prepare for the imminent release of its Rise of Iron expansion, featuring a wide range of announced and unannounced tweaks.

Most of the changes are obviously geared towards the new expansion: the Cosmodrome map now features the new Plaguelands and Felwinter Peak areas, though they cannot be visited; a new, thus far inaccessible area has been added on Mars; SIVA clusters can be found in the "Fallen S.A.B.E.R." strike; and the opening title screen and theme music now reflects the Rise of Iron era.

The game's loot table has been adjusted, adding in the new Trespasser exotic sidearm, enabling loot drops at higher than the current maximum Light level of 335, and improving rates of legendary event reward drops.
