Destiny beta Guardians have been deleted, Bungie confirms

Destiny beta participants cannot keep their characters because the game will be too different come launch day, says Bungie.

In an update on the game’s official site, Bungie designer Tyson Green elaborated as to why all characters created in the game’s recent beta had to be wiped.

“Since the Beta, we’ve continued to tune and adjust the game,” he said.

“The way you earn experience has been adjusted up and down a bunch of times. Items have been added and removed. New features toggled.

“Although there’s no single monumental change, the sum of the tweaks leaves characters from the Beta Build in strange shape that would be confusing at best, broken at worst.”

Exosuits are optional in some Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare multiplayer modes

It will be possible to play some Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare’s multiplayer modes without the exosuit, developer Sledgehammer has confirmed.

The exosuit is the biggest addition to the FPS franchise in years, and allows players to double-jump, boost dodge, deploy a shield, and more.

“We understand that some players may want to go back to the more traditional style [of Call of Duty],” Sledgehammer studio co-founder Michael Condrey told YouTube personality DVLZStation.

Rumour: Activision planning a Call of Duty movie, Marvel-style production house

Rumour has it Activision is planning on bringing Call of Duty to the silver screen through its own film and television production studio.

According to The Information sources (as reported by Engadget), Activision is tentatively planning to launch a studio that will produce movies and TV shows based on its brands.

Obviously, this would allow the company tighter control on any shows it produces as it wouldn’t have to rely on third parties.

Speaking with OXM, producer Mike Mejia said that Sledgehammer was happy with how the game was running, although he did hope that it would be further optimised before launch.

"So we're 60 frames a second all the way," said Mejia.

Ubisoft has confirmed months of rumours and announced Assassin's Creed Rogue for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

In Assassin's Creed Rogue players will control an Assassin-turned-Templar named Shay Patrick Cormac who hunts down his former comrades for the Templar order.

The game is set during the Seven Years' War, which took place between 1754 and 1763, and spans from Alabama to New York and Quebec. Players will also range up the Appalachian River Valley, said Ubisoft.

Shay's story will be tied to those of the Kenways, who star in Assassin's Creed 3 and 4.

Diablo III console characters transferable across brands, generations

Diablo III console characters transferable across brands, generations

Blizzard has outlined what it calls cross-brand and cross-generational character transfers for Diablo III on consoles. Using the system, players will be able to move characters around systems.

For example, if you created a Diablo III character on Xbox 360 when the original console edition came out last year, you can transfer that character to your new PlayStation 4 system when you start up Diablo III: Reaper of Souls Ultimate Evil Edition. Similarly, you can transfer a PlayStation 3 character to Xbox One. Characters can also be moved across PlayStation and Xbox generations.

Players will first need to save their original characters to the cloud. When turning on the Ultimate Evil Edition for Xbox One or PlayStation 4, players will be prompted to import that save. Full instructions can be found on Battle.net.

Gearbox lost millions developing Aliens: Colonial Marines

Documents filed by Gearbox in its defense against a class-action lawsuit over Aliens: Colonial Marines reveal that the publisher lost millions developing the game.

The lawsuit claims Gearbox falsely advertised Aliens: Colonial Marines by showing demos at trade and consumer events that did not accurately represent the final product.

"During the development process, Gearbox supplemented Sega’s development budget with its own money to help Sega finish its game; Gearbox’s contribution to A:CM totaled millions, none of which was ever repaid," the developer has said in documents published by Game Informer.

Bungie details Destiny's six-player raids

Bungie has finally opened up about Destiny's six-player raid content designed to challenge top level characters.

Speaking with IGN, Bungie's Luke Smith described raids as "one of the pillars of the game". Players will need to group with five other friends and there will be no random matchmaking as communication will be essential, he add.

"The activity is going to take you and your group of five buddies into a place that you’ve never been. A place that you will return to frequently. And demand of you things you’ve never even really been asked to do in a shooter before," said Smith.

Battlefield 4 glitch allows classes to be combined

Battlefield 4 glitch allows classes to be combined

A Battlefield 4 glitch that allows players to reap the benefits of two classes at once has been discovered by Battlefield Central.

A video on that site shows how to combine the game’s Engineer and Support classes in order to equip both a rocket launcher and ammo bag, which effectively gives the player unlimited rockets.

To access the glitch, simply select a class and a gadget for slot one while leaving the other slot open. Then do the same on another class except leave slot one open instead. Finally, when spawning hit L1 and R1 (or LB and RB on Xbox) and you will now spawn with a combined class.

The glitch works on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and might also be possible on PC by pressing Shift and Control in place of the bumpers.

At launch, Battlefield 4 was plagued by a large number of technical problems, which ultimately saw DICE halt development on the game's expansions as well as Battlefront 3 as it scrambled for fixes.
