Fallout Anthology collects five games in a mini-nuke

Bethesda is gathering all five existing Fallout games in a new bundle that fits nicely inside a mini-nuke.

Fallout Anthology releases for PC on October 1 for NZ$120, and the box even contains a space for Fallout 4, which is out on November 10.

The mini-nuke storage case features an audible bomb sound.

Obsidian would love to make another Fallout: New Vegas title, says its CEO Feargus Urquhart.

Speaking with RPS, Urquhart called the idea “awesome”, before outlining how his studio would tackle the project.

“If I think of going from Fallout 1 to Fallout 2, we tried to associate the two areas somewhat closely,” he said.

Bethesda Softworks today officially announced three downloadable content packs scheduled for Fallout: New Vegas.

Honest Hearts, Old World Blues and Lonesome Road will be available on May 17th for Xbox 360 and PCs, and May 18th for PS3.

Bethesda had previously announced that additional DLC packs would follow Dead Money, and that each would be released simultaneously across all platforms.

Bethesda has announced that the Fallout: New Vegas downloadable addon Dead Money will be coming to PC and PlayStation 3 on the 22nd of February.

The Xbox 360 players have thus far enjoyed a window of exclusivity for the DLC.

The DLC pack will be available via Steam and Direct 2 Drive on PC and on the PlayStation Network for PlayStation 3.

Bethesda has responded to media criticism surrounding the stability of Fallout: New Vegas by issuing a patch through Steam, which will automatically update the game client upon launch.

According to Gamespot, an unnamed Bethesda spokesperson issued the following statement;

"We have just released an automatic update for the PC version of Fallout: New Vegas that resolves quest and scripting issues. We're working hard to make this update available for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game as soon as possible and will let you know as soon as we have the dates they’ll be up."

Bethesda has announced that Fallout: New Vegas for Xbox 360 will receive exclusive downloadable content.

No details about what the package contains have been released but Bethesda say it will be available on Xbox LIVE over the holiday season.

Bethesda’s PR front man Pete Hines said, “We're excited to continue the partnership between Bethesda and Microsoft, and build on the success of the game add-ons released for Fallout 3 on Xbox LIVE. Fans will once again be able to continue their experience in the Fallout universe with the add-on packs planned for after the launch of the game.”

Creating a sequel – indirect or otherwise – to a title like Fallout 3 is no easy task. Considered by many to be a Game of the Year title (2008) and by most to be in that year’s top five, Fallout 3 revitalised a beloved role-playing franchise that had been on hiatus for a decade.

Right from the beginning, Fallout: New Vegas developer Obsidian has intended for their upcoming segue title to play to their own design strengths. It makes sense, of course, but it’s a particularly sensitive subject when the foundation game is held in such high esteem and the studio’s name is, for some, synonymous with the incomplete launch of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords – a project that has markedly similar origins to New Vegas.

Set in a ‘50s-inspired post-nuclear holocaust Nevada, players assume the role of a courier who has been robbed of a mysterious parcel at gunpoint and left for dead in the Mojave Desert.

Obsidian Entertainment’s Chris Avellone needs little introduction to avid RPG players. He first worked for Interplay where he was involved in the development of 1998’s Fallout 2. Since joining Obsidian, Avellone has been integral to the development of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II and Neverwinter Nights 2. Today, we had a chance to sit down with Chris and discuss the studio’s further imagining of Bethesda’s Fallout 3.

Gameplanet: What did you identify as New Vegas’ key areas for growth over Fallout 3?

Chris Avellone: That’s an interesting question because with Fallout 3 there were a lot of things we didn’t want to touch because we liked them so much – so the question we asked ourselves is “what do we want to tweak or modify in order to make the experience better?”

So the first thing we looked at was the mod community – what were the things people were changing most about the title that we really like? One of them was weapon mods. We were like, you know what? We can implement those in New Vegas and make the weapons a lot cooler and make dealing with merchants a lot cooler, why don’t we implement that system and put it in?

PC Gamer magazine has taken an exclusive look into Obsidian’s Fallout 3 sequel, titled New Vegas, and has returned with some fresh details.

Players assume the role not of a vault dweller, but instead a courier who is dug up by a robot in the Mojave Desert. (Presumably that’s your hand we see in the game’s teaser trailer.) You are nursed back to health by a doctor was a former vault dweller, however, and it’s he who provides you with a Pip-Boy.
