Danish news show mistakes Assassin's Creed screenshot for present-day Syria

A Danish television channel has admitted it mistakenly used an image from Assassin’s Creed in a report, believing it to be a photo of Syria.

The screenshot was used as a backdrop behind news anchor Cecilie Beck on February 26.

It did indeed show the Syrian capital of Damascus, albeit a pixelated video game approximation of the city as it was 720 years ago.

Assassin's Creed once had a "huge" co-op component

There were plans for the original Assassin's Creed to feature extensive co-op gameplay, mission director Philippe Bergeron has revealed.

Speaking with OXM, Bergeron said that a “huge” co-op component was envisioned before the team knew about the Desmond story and Animus link, and it was those things that put the idea to rest.

"But it just became too hard to do: the engine couldn't support it, and then the metaphor we had above it didn't support it,” he said.
