We also want to try to create an experience where all of these heroes feel fundamentally different from one another, where all of the heroes are very strange and unusual.

On-disc debate keeps DLC characters out of Dragon Age: Inquisition BioWare won't be offering up any DLC characters for Dragon Age: Inquisition because it doesn’t want to get tangled up in the on-disc DLC debate.

The game’s creative director Mike Laidlaw told OXM that technical reasons meant some parts of DLC characters would have to be included on the game’s disc, and that riled some fans.

"Because of how deeply enmeshed in the system companion characters are, we can't just add them on the fly; part of them has to be shipped on the disc, which has led to criticism that we're forcing people to pay for content they already own,” said Laidlaw.

Kinect Sports Rivals review While Kinect Sports Rivals adequately demonstrates the improvements made to the latest model of Kinect, uninspired gameplay lets the overall package down.

Pity the engineering team behind Microsoft's oft-maligned Kinect. No doubt millions of collected man-hours and millions of R&D dollars have been poured into this device, and the result is something of a technological marvel. Consider what it has to do, and the fact that it works as well as it does is actually pretty amazing. It's just unfortunate that for gaming purposes, controls failing to respond as required - even one time out of twenty inputs - is simply too much for most experienced gamers used to precision results.

This is the problem that Kinect Sports Rivals faces straight out of the box, and it takes a reasonable crack at solving the issue. The Xbox One's Kinect 2.0 sensor steps things up in the accuracy and detail departments. Rivals demonstrates these improvements almost immediately with its character creation scheme, which has the player run through a little pose-and-pivot in front of the all-seeing eye before creating a digital avatar of his or her likeness, and although just how similar this avatar looks like the player is up for debate, there's likely to be some kind of a resemblance (in my case, Kinect correctly identified and incorporated a beard).

Xbox TV: Redmond's plan for original programming This week, Microsoft unveiled its plan to go head-to-head with companies like Amazon and Netflix and produce its own original television content that it will broadcast over Xbox Live. Six series have been greenlit so far: Halo, sci-fi thriller Humans, and reality shows Every Street United and Fearless, as well as a comedy sketch show from Michael Cera’s JASH collective, and a documentary series from the producers of Searching for Sugar Man.

Xbox also intends to do a live broadcast of the Bonaroo Music Festival that will including backstage interviews with participating artists via Skype, and a documentary about excavating the infamous Atari burial grounds in New Mexico is underway now. Despite Microsoft's involvement, each show may or may not be exclusive to the Xbox: Humans, for example, will air on Channel 4 in the UK.

The whole project is being spearheaded by president of Xbox Entertainment Studios Nancy Tellem, a former CBS head hired a year-and-a-half ago to build things from the ground up. This week, we dropped her a line to see how things were progressing.

Those who opt for the voice route can substitute their own custom words or phrases in for standard commands like “fire” or “shields up”.
