UPDATE: The Star Wars: The Old Republic pre-order FAQ reads: "Will Star Wars: The Old Republic be available for retail purchase in countries not listed above?
At launch, Star Wars: The Old Republic will be available only in the countries listed above [the list does not include Australia or New Zealand]. Details on additional countries are not available at this time, but will be released when available.
ORIGINAL: EA has today announced that it is accepting pre-orders for its highly anticipated MMO, Star Wars: The Old Republic, but you can put your wallet away as pre-ordering is not available in New Zealand or Australia.
While those who pre-order in other regions will be able to play the game early, Kiwi and Aussie gamers are met with the following statement on EA's online store, Origin.com:
“To maintain a high quality of service, only certain regions worldwide will be able to pre-order Star Wars: The Old Republic.”
“Sign up for the newsletters on SWTOR.COM to learn when the game will be available in your area.”
New Zealand and Australia appear to be the only two English-speaking countries in the world where pre-orders of Star Wars: The Old Republic are not allowed, leading to increased speculation that the game will be released in this region after it's available elsewhere.
