Age of Empires 2 will receive a brand-new official expansion next week, some 17 years after the original game released on PC.
Rise of the Rajas, so the expansion is called, is set in southeast Asia, bringing the Burmese, Khmer, Malay, and Vietnamese civilisations into the fray.
Designed specifically for the HD version of the game, it features four new campaigns, all fully voice-acted, as well as the expected new units - including "Battle Elephants."
The update also brings performance boosts, rebalancing, and bug fixes to a game that really should have had that stuff under control by now.
It follows the previous two expansions, released in 2013 and 2015 respectively, which collectively added Italians, Indians, Slavs, Magyars, Incas, Berbers, Ethiopians, Malians, and the Portuguese to the game.
Age of Empires 2 HD: Rise of the Rajas releases December 19th for Windows PC.
