Developer Hi-Rez today announced the Hi-Rez Expo, an all-new event to host tournaments of the studio's competitive games.
HRX 2017 will encompass the Smite World Championships, the PC component of which boasts a prize pool of US$1m. An Xbox championship will make its debut, and its prize pool will total US$150,000.
Both tournaments will feature contenders from Australia and New Zealand – players qualify via the Oceania Pro League 2016 Season, a league that offers an AU$100,000 prize pool.
The expo will also debut the Paladins Invitational Tournament, showcasing Hi-Rez's new team-based strategic shooter that is currently in closed beta.
Since this year's Smite World Championship in January, Smite has grown to 20 million players worldwide. This year the MOBA launch on PlayStation 4.
In Gameplanet's Smite review, Alan Bell scored the game 8/10 and called it a "deep, satsifying MOBA with a new perspective".
Tickets are on sale now for HRX 2017, which will take place at the Cobb Energy Center in Atlanta, Georgia from January 5–8.
