Ubisoft has unveiled a new platformer-RPG called Child of Light.

According to the developer, Child of Light is a JRPG tribute that focuses on a young princess named Aurora, who is trapped in a waking dream.

Along with a mystical blue orb companion called Igniculus (who can be controlled by a second player), Aurora must discover what has corrupted the land of Lemuria and transformed its inhabitants into crows.

The game is the work of Far Cry 3 director Patrick Plourde, and will run on UbiArt - Ubisoft Montpellier's Rayman engine.

It features turn-based combat, an elemental-based spell system, and watercolour painting-style art.

Child of Light is expected to release next year on Windows PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Wii U, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
