Sega is asking bankrupt publisher THQ for money the latter received from Company of Heroes 2 pre-orders.

Sega has filed a claim with the Delaware US Bankruptcy Court for US$941,710.93 (NZ$1,195,543) – the amount THQ received from Valve for pre-orders of the anticipated real-time strategy title through Steam.

That money came from 20,755 pre-orders totalling US$1,345,301.29, less Valve’s standard 30 per cent cut of all revenue collected via Steam.

Sega claims that US$508,877.85 of that amount is entitled to priority under US law because Valve paid the money to THQ after December 19, 2012 – the day THQ filed for bankruptcy protection.

Sega bought Company of Heroes developer Relic Entertainment and the Company of Heroes IP for US$26.6 million after THQ's assets were put up for sale.

It joins a long list of potential creditors, who collectively are seeking more than US$200 million from THQ.
