Metro 2033 sequel Metro: Last Light will be available from May 17, Deep Silver has announced.
The franchise was acquired by Koch Media for US$5.88 million (AU$ 5.76 million) following the bankruptcy of publisher THQ.
“The new release date is the ideal way to strike the balance between bringing the best out of Metro: Last Light and not keep the fans waiting longer than necessary,” said Koch Media CEO Dr. Klemens Kundratitz.
“We won’t leave that time unexploited and will work closely together with 4A Games to make the game even better. It will receive all the attention it deserves.”
The game takes place in the year 2034 in post-apocalypse Moscow, where the tunnels of the metro have become a new home for the former inhabitants of the city.
The plot of Metro: Last Light was written by Dmitry Glukhovsky, author of the novel Metro 2033 which inspired the creation of both video games.
Metro: Last Light will be available on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Windows PC.
