Spicy Horse has turned to Kickstarter in the hope of adding more features to its almost-complete action-RPG, Akaneiro: Demon Hunters.

The Alice: Madness Returns developer has stated that it needs to raise US$200,000 (NZ$240,757) to realise the most complete version the game.

Additions it wishes to make include co-op multiplayer and an equipment crafting system, as well as and extra weapons, skills, and pets.

Should the Kickstarter be successful, it would also commit to both an Android and iOS tablet version of the game, and extend community support by adding more community managers.

Spicy Horse also clarified that Akaneiro will be a free-to-play title, with game locations beyond an initial free offering able to be purchased using cash or the in-game currency karma, which is accrued simply by playing.

“There is no energy system. No hidden subscription, no paying for power,” the studio stated.

“We will never apply prohibitive costs to core gameplay content or character progression. Nothing will be off limits to non-paying players.”

Stretch goals cover game expansions, a Linux version, guild creation, new items, and a PvP arena.

At the time of writing, the company has raised US$31,867 of its US$200,000 goal.
