2K Games today announced that FPS RPG sequel Borderlands 2 will be released to Valve's Steam platform.
Those looking to take down the notorious Handsome Jack and his corrupt Hyperion Corporation using a mouse and keyboard will have access to Steam Achievements, downloadable content, auto-updating, multiplayer matchmaking, Steam Cloud support and more.
Developed by Gearbox, Borderlands 2 is scheduled for release on September 21 this year and will also be available on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
2K Games has announced that Borderlands 2 will be released in New Zealand and Australia on the 21st of September this year.
In development at Gearbox Software, the much-anticipated sequel to the four-player cooperative looter shooter tells a new story with new characters, and sets out to address some of the few shortcomings of the original.
“Borderlands 2 is a passion project, through and through,” says Gearbox boss and sometime magician Randy Pitchford. “The result is a sequel that has improved every successful aspect of Borderlands while innovating with an all-new experience.”
Gearbox will honour a fan of Borderlands who recently passed away due to cancer.
Destructoid reports that it was contacted by Carlo, a friend of Michael John Mamaril, who recently lost a battle with cancer at the age of 22. The two were fans of Gearbox’s Borderlands, and Carlo contacted the developer, asking if the game’s iconic robot Claptrap could perform a eulogy for his departed friend.
Gearbox obliged, and went a step further, saying that Michael’s likeness will be used for an NPC in the game’s upcoming sequel.
