BioWare discuss Dragon Age: Awakening

Speaking with IGN, BioWare’s online producer Fernando Melo has said that the upcoming expansion to Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age: Awakening, will see players arriving in the new northern area of Amaranthine as an Orlesian Grey Warden commander if they choose to start from scratch.

“It's not the same depth of something like an origin story, but there is a brand new beginning to the campaign there, and then you're thrust into the tale,” he said.

As soon as players begin the expansion, they cannot revert back to the Origins storyline as the clock is wound forward and characters below the minimum level requirement will level-up.

With regards to the expansion’s scale, Melo suggests that Awakening is “fairly massive... It’ll be bigger than most retail games.”

He also commented on the delay to DLC Return to Ostagar, saying the problem was spotted in the final moments of play-testing: “We probably could have gone with it, but it's something that was serious enough that we felt it impacted the quality and we made the choice to delay it to give our fans the best experience with it,” he said.
