Alan Wake for PC dated, specced

Remedy has announced a February release window for Alan Wake’s PC debut on Steam, and provided preliminary system requirements.

Both downloadable episodes, The Signal and The Writer, will come with the Steam edition of the game. Alan Wake will use Steamworks, support Steam Cloud and contain Steam Achievements. Games for Windows Live and Mac will not be supported, nor will modding tools be available.

Remedy has also said that optimisation and graphics scalability are still being finalised meaning that the preliminary graphics requirements listed below may change:

Alan Wake canned for PC

Microsoft has announced that Alan Wake is now officially an Xbox 360 exclusive.

In a statement, a Microsoft spokesperson has said, "Some games are more suited for the intimacy of the PC, and others are best played from the couch in front of a larger TV screen. We ultimately realised that the most compelling way to experience Alan Wake was on the Xbox 360 platform, so we focused on making it an Xbox 360 exclusive.

Alan Wake

Not much has been seen of Alan Wake since E3 2005 but it seems developer Remedy has been working hard, very hard, as the supernatural thriller is shaping up to be just as impressive as the hype is suggesting.

As Jyri “Jay” Ranki demoed an opening level – an extension of the level shown at Microsoft’s pre-E3 press conference – lead writer Sam Lake backgrounded the story of Alan Wake, which puts players in the shoes of the titular burnt-out novelist who, with his wife Alice, arrives in sleepy Pride Falls in Washington for a holiday.

Remedy’s calling Alan Wake a psychological thriller with scares and a pop culture story, and it’s going to be told in an almost TV series approach.
