HAWX to get satellite imagery

Today, Ubisoft announced that GeoEye, a premier provider of satellite, aerial and geospatial information, has provided high-resolution images taken from its commercial Earth-imaging IKONOS satellite for integration into Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X will be available in early 2009.

The H.A.W.X development team is working closely with specialists at GeoEye to integrate realistic satellite images for every location throughout the game, including Rio de Janeiro, Cape Canaveral and the Middle East. With more than 16 international locations in the game, every mission will have players flying over GeoEye-provided satellite imagery in a three-dimensional environment.

GeoEye's IKONOS satellite was the world's first commercial Earth imaging satellite and its imagery is currently being used for US national security, mapping, air and marine transportation, environmental monitoring and insurance risk management. The amazing quality and detail of the IKONOS images will lend realism to Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X giving gamers a feeling of immersion that will plunge them into the air combat mission of the game.

Ubisoft has released the first video dev diary for Tom Clancy's HAWX (high-altitude warfare).

Due to be released in spring, the game marks a departure from traditional Tom Clancy titles in that you'll be thrown into the cockpits of incredibly powerful and technologically advanced jet fighters.

Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X gets amBX

NEWS by Dan Cheer 17 Jun 2008, 9:15 am

Philips today announced an agreement with Ubisoft to implement amBX directly into Tom Clancy’s HAWX, the forthcoming air combat game. The announcement coincides with sweeping price reductions across the Philips amBX PC Gaming Peripherals range.

Tom Clancy’s HAWX will allow players the opportunity to grasp the throttle of over 50 famous fighter aircraft and fly them over real world locations and cities in photorealistic environments, using the highest quality satellite data currently available outside the military.

Tom Clancy’s HAWX uses an Enhanced Reality System to turn novice gaming aviators into the elite fighter pilots of the future, featuring weapons systems, interception trajectories, incoming missile detection, anti-crash systems, damage assessment, tactical maps and the ability for pilots to issue orders to their squadron and other units – all of which will be radically enhanced through amBX.
