Limited Edition Spider-Man PS4 Pro bundle announced

Insomniac's hugely anticipated Spider-Man is set to release on the 7th of September exclusively on PlayStation 4 and is shaping up to be one of the biggest games of the year.

During San Diego Comic-Con, Sony announced a slick looking 1TB PS4 Pro console bundle and surprisingly, for a themed console, it looks sharp.

I've typically hated the designs of the past limited edition consoles (I'm looking at you, you ugly Call of Duty Black Ops monstrosity) but I'm really feeling this clean red colour with the the new spidey logo.

This limited edition Spider-Man PS4 bundle contains the following:

Telltale isn't ruling out Walking Dead sequels in the future

While the upcoming season of Telltale's The Walking Dead may be titled 'The Final Season', it may not necessarily be the end of the franchise.

In an interview with IGN, Telltale Games creative director Kent Mudle was reluctant to confirm the end of the franchise, saying "this season is the end of Clementine’s journey, and that’s as much as I’ll say on that."

While certainly not confirmation of something else in the works, it's hard to believe Telltale would want to part with a franchise that has brought the studio such acclaim in the past.

Halo dev has no interest in adding battle royale

343 Industries' Jeff Easterling and James Bachici, two of the developers behind Halo recently held a 343 Mixer social stream and were asked if a battle royale mode would make it's way in to the recently announced Halo Infinite. "I'll tell you right now, the only BR we're really interested in is Battle Rifle." replied Easterling.

Recent titles like PUBG and Fortnite have propelled the battle royale genre to unprecedented heights with Fortnite in particular becoming somewhat of a cultural phenomenon. While major studios like EA and Activision recently announced that a battle royale mode would make it's way in to their next respective games, it's nice to see 343 sticking to their guns and not shoehorning in the mode due to it being the biggest craze in gaming right now.

343 Industries announced Halo Infinite at E3 this year and stated that it would be running on the new internally created Slipspace Engine. Fans expressed their disappointment at the lack of Master Chief game time in the last Halo. 343 has stated that they've heard these complaints "Loud and clear" and that Halo Infinite will bring the focus back to Master Chief's story following the events of Halo Guardians.

The Culling 2 removed from sale after one week

In a move I don't think I've ever witnessed in the gaming industry, developer Xaviant is shutting down The Culling 2 just eight days after launch. The developer is currently contacting Valve, Sony and Microsoft to get affected players a refund for the latest game to enter the battle royale genre.

In a video posted on Xaiant's YouTube channel, Josh Van Veld, director of ops issued an apology to fans for the disastrous launch of The Culling 2 last week, stating “one thing that has emerged very clearly for us is that The Culling 2 was not a game that you asked for, and it’s not the game that you expected as a worthy successor to The Culling.” Fan outrage and low user reviews on Steam criticized the developer for abandoning the original game and making changes that went against what players loved about the game, which in turn led to Xaviant pulling the plug.

Xaviant will instead now focus on returning to the day-one build of The Culling, hoping to regain some of the lost player base. This version of The Culling will arrive on Xaviant's test servers this week and will allow players to download the original game free of charge.

Horizon Zero Dawn studio about to staff up in a big way

Horizon Zero Dawn studio about to staff up in a big way

Guerrilla Games, the developer behind Horizon: Zero Dawn and the Killzone franchise is moving house.

From the beginning of next year, the studio will relocate into a new office space of 7,300 square meters across five floors.

In an interview with Dutch paper Het Parool, Guerrilla Games CEO, Hermen Hulst noted that the new offices will provide the space to increase the studio's team from its current size of 250, to 400 permanent employees.

An increase in this size would indicate a likely shift from being a solo project developer, to running multiple projects at once – a process already in place at other Sony studios like Naughty Dog.

"We have worked on Horizon for 6.5 years, which is exceptional, but we want to release games in the next two or three years, both new titles and games based on existing titles," said Hulst.

No Man's Sky NEXT Update brings the game closer to the initial vision

It's no secret that Hello Games' No Man's Sky is one of the most divisive games of the generation. Prior to it's release in 2016, the game reached monumental levels of hype with gamers. For many of us, it looked like it would be the game we'd dreamt of playing for most of our gaming years.

Sadly the game did not really live up to expectations. In our review we gave the game a 6/10 and stated "No Man's Sky was never going to live up to the hype, but sadly even those with tempered expectations are likely to be somewhat disappointed. It is by no means a terrible game, it just feels unfinished and empty."

Followed by mostly mediocre reviews and angry outspoken fans, it wouldn't have been a surprise if Sean Murray and Hello Games had disappeared from the gaming world entirely. Thankfully, Hello Games stuck around and doubled down on its efforts to expand on No Man's Sky and bring the game closer to what many hoped it would be from the beginning.
