Microsoft's next-gen consoles have codenames and are coming in 2020

First reported by the folks at Windows Central, multiple sources are stating that Microsoft have two consoles planned for the next-gen launch.

According to the report, the two consoles are being prepared for a holiday 2020 release. It's rumoured that the consoles are being referred to internally as the "Anaconda", a powerful, fully-featured successor to the Xbox One X and "Lockhart", a more affordable piece of hardware comparable in power to the current Xbox One X, but with "refinements under the hood".

Rumours that Microsoft is planning a streaming-only console have been making the rounds recently. These new rumours seem in line with everything we've heard so far about the next-gen wave of Xbox hardware.

What features would you like to see in the next Xbox? Would you be interested in a streaming-only console? Sound off in the comments below!

That long-teased Dreams beta finally has a date

For years, Media Molecule's Dreams has been the object of speculation, with many still wondering the fundamental question of "what is it?"

That's likely to change very soon, with the game's first beta beginning on December 19.

The beta's focus will be on the game's creation tools, with some social features also available. There'll also be some mini-games that were made by the design team.

Discord's Store will offer devs 90% of revenue

Recent news of Epic's store offering a bigger slice of the pie to developers has inspired Discord to follow suit.

Starting in 2019, Discord will only take 10 percent of games revenue, with 90 percent of sales going to the developer.

"We talked to a lot of developers, and many of them feel that current stores are not earning their 30% of the usual 70/30 revenue share," said Discord in its announcement.

Metro Exodus will release one week early on Feb 15

4A Games has announced that Metro Exodus has gone gold; and better yet – the game will release one week early on February 15, 2019.

"We had previously delayed the release date to ensure 4A Games had the time to deliver their ambitious vision for the game," said Deep Silver CEO Klemens Kundratitz, "but now we’re delighted to confirm that Metro Exodus has ‘gone gold’ and we are able to bring the release date forward to February 15th, 2019."

Inspired by the novels of Dmitry Glukhovsky, Metro Exodus continues Artyom’s story, set a quarter-century after a nuclear war devastated the earth.

Subnautica is free on the Epic Store until Christmas

Subnautica is free on the Epic Store until Christmas

Unknown Worlds' Subnautica has been available as an early access title for quite some time and recently saw its official full release on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

If you've yet to check it out, it's available for free on the Epic Store from now until the 25th of December.

Subnautica is a rich underwater survival game where players crash land on a beautiful alien ocean planet, stranded in a life-pod with little resources and equipment. It's up to players to slowly make their way deeper and deeper into the abyss to get craft more equipment in hopes of making it off the dangerous planet.

I played a ton of Subnautica when it was in early access, and it's quite possibly the best underwater game I've ever played. The sense of dread when exploring the cavernous depths of the ocean and discovering the terrifying creatures that await is always thrilling. Like many survival games, Subnautica doesn't hold your hand at all, so it's up to you to figure out how to stay alive.

Fortnite's overpowered Infinity Blade destroys everything

Fortnite's Winter Royale is off to a rough start, mostly thanks to an overpowered weapon that's left a sour taste in the mouth of those competing in the USD$1 million tournament.

Patch 7.01 released yesterday and introduced the Infinity Blade weapon to matches.

A player wielding the Infinity Blade will have both health and shield buffed to 200, while also gaining the ability to jump huge distances and deal 75 damage with each swing.

New Shadow Of The Tomb Raider DLC coming next week

The latest DLC for Shadow of the Tomb Raider, titled The Pillar is releasing next week and will see players "venture into the Path of the Huracan to discover the truth behind the legend of the Maya apocalypse".

We thought Shadow of the Tomb Raider was a bit of a step back for the series and in our review said that "the finale to this trilogy is dragged down into the mud by the failings of its narrative and the depictions of its once celebrated character". It's nonetheless nice to see Eidos Montreal still supporting the game with additional content.

Check out the video below for an in-depth look at the making of The Pillar and a look at what players can expect from the DLC.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch

There were a few big announcements at last week's Game Awards, but one announcement, in particular, seemed to come out of left field. Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order was announced and surprisingly will be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch in 2019.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 was originally released all the way back in 2009 and fans (and myself included) have been hungry for more ever since.
