Radical confirmed that Prototype 2 is in development at the Spike TV Videogame Awards this weekend.

Some of the impact of the reveal was blunted by heavy teasing in the weeks leading up to the VGAs. In the game, players control a new lead character, Sgt. James Heller, as he attempts to defeat the first game’s lead character, Alex Mercer.

Prototype 2 will be released in 2012. No platforms were discussed.
